A Good Birth is a state of mind!
It’s true! All sorts of women experience a ‘Good Birth’ – women just like you.
When Anne Drapkin Lyerly conducted her ‘Good Birth Project’ at Duke University, North Carolina, in 2006 she identified that “feelings of agency, security, connectedness, respect, and knowledge” were more important factors in determining a ‘Good Birth’. than whether things went according to plan. And it’s true that while we can’t guarantee the course of a birth, we can optimise the chances of experiencing a Good Birth.
Which is why I established The Good Birth Practice here in Sevenoaks. I’m here to help pregnant women and their partners manage their pregnancies and prepare to have a Good Birth, by;
Providing information about how to make active and positive decisions about pregnancy, labour and birth
Teaching The Wise Hippo Birthing Programme (hypnobirthing) in Sevenoaks
Helping 2nd, 3rd and 4th time Mums to prepare for their labours too
Sharing positive stories about labour and birth
Understanding that there are special circumstances for some births and babies and supporting parents in dealing with that too.
