Knole Decorative and Fine Arts Society

Knole DFAS was founded in 1986 to provide a Decorative and Fine Arts Society in the Sevenoaks area that met in the afternoons (Sevenoaks DFAS meet in the evenings). A celebration to mark Knole’s 25th anniversary was held on the 5th October 2011 at Lullingstone Castle.

Knole meets on the third Thursday of every month (except July and August) at 12.30 pm when coffee and sandwiches are available. Lectures start promptly at 1.45 pm and finish by 3 pm.

Each year we choose a theme for our monthly lectures and approximately half of these relate to that theme. The remaining lectures are of general interest, designed to cover the full spectrum of the decorative and fine arts. The current theme is “An Odyssey with the Ancients”.

In addition to the monthly lectures, we hold two study days per season in March and November, arrange various outings in connection with the lectures and to other places of interest and organise two study tours, one in the UK and one abroad.

Knole has an active group of Heritage Volunteers and Church Recorders. We have a twinning arrangement with Mornington Peninsular ADFAS (located approximately 50 km from Melbourne, Australia) with whom we regularly exchange news and programme information.
