The Dynes

The Dynes is Abbeyfield Kent’s residential home in Kemsing, near Sevenoaks, offering care, compassion and companionship in a beautiful location at the foot of the North Downs.
The Dynes is a two storey home which offers residential and respite care to older people. Located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the home is situated next to a quiet recreational ground at the end of Nightingale Road in Kemsing.
The home has eight lounge and communal areas for residents to enjoy, and a library section for quiet reading.
The Dynes is wheelchair friendly and handrails are situated throughout the home; the en-suite rooms at the front of the home have ramped access to the garden. Being a two-storey home, The Dynes has a lift for moving between the floors.
The home’s garden area is well used during the summer months, where residents enjoy relaxing in the sunshine or pottering in the greenhouse. All the homes lounges have direct access to the gardens.
To help make you feel at home, new residents can decorate their rooms to suit their own taste. People are encouraged to bring in items from home to personalise their room and, if required, residents are allowed to bring their own television, telephone, radio and pets.
Each room at The Dynes has a sink installed for convenience, and 20 of the home’s 33 rooms have en-suite facilities. All residents have push buttons attached to the cord bleeps installed in their room.
Visiting hours are completely unrestricted and guests are free to visit residents in their room.
The Dynes staff wash and iron all clothes, bed linen, towels and flannels and do all the cleaning around the home. Occasionally residents decide to get involved and help out and staff at the home are more than happy to incorporate their assistance.

Dining
Staff at The Dynes pride themselves on excellent quality meals and meeting all dietary requirements. At meal times residents are offered a choice of two meals and the chef is always happy to prepare another option if required. All the home’s meal times are relaxed and flexible, residents choose a time to suit them.
Should they choose to get involved, there is a kitchenette area available for residents to prepare their own snacks and drinks, but staff are always more than happy to help. Resident’s guests are welcome to have a meal at the home.

Social events and activities
The Dynes offers a very exciting and busy social calendar. A social hub, The Dynes regularly organises days out including visits to the fish and chip shop and seaside. Staff at the home are committed to ensuring residents get the opportunity to enjoy themselves in a way they find fulfilling; residents are encouraged to get involved in the planning of events and days out.
Residents at the home enjoy a weekly exercise class, a weekly church service and regular visits from the hairdresser and chiropodist.
