About SBC
SBC was established in 2006 and has grown steadily in numbers and ability. We now have between 20-30 members and the club consists of a good mix of men and ladies with an age range between 15 and 60.
SBC has 5 competing teams comprising of 6 players in each: 2 Men’s team, a Ladies team and 2 Mixed teams. Although not all members will be selected to play in league matches, there is the opportunity to play in friendly matches, and with a good mix of standards, there is always the opportunity to improve and impress one of the team captains at our club nights….if you want to! But don’t worry, you’ll be just as welcome if you play for the love of the game.
SBC also competes in the TWBL singles & composite leagues plus one off competitions and in-house and external friendly competitions too so there is always a chance to play in a match type competition.
Unfortunately we are unable to cater for beginners and all new members must be able to play a good standard in order to be considered for full membership. If you consider yourself to be more of a beginner then why not try the badminton club at Sevenoaks Leisure Centre, which takes place on a Sunday night – you’ll generally find a few of the club members there.
Club Nights
We play every Friday night from 8pm – 10pm and 8pm -10:30pm in match season. Unlike other clubs we continue to play right throughout the summer months and provide a club night for almost every week of the year (excluding some bank holidays and major holidays).
We have 4 courts available at the venue for club nights, although during match season this is mainly reduced to 2 courts as the others are taken up with home matches.
We play in the newly refurbished sports hall at The New School at West Heath in Sevenoaks.
Social
We love to play badminton but we’re also a pretty social bunch, often after a long session on court we’ll head down to one of the local pubs to enjoy a few drinks and at points throughout the year we hold various social events.
