The United Reformed Church is the only cross-denominational union in Great Britain since the Reformation in the 16th Century. It was formed in 1972 by the union of the Congregational Church in England & Wales and the Presbyterian denominations. It was joined in 1961 by the Churches of Christ, and in 2000 by the Scottish Congregational Church.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
We believe in God, who loves and cares for us all, whatever our life story, age or background. We are all part of His family.
As Jesus christ taught us to do, we will show the love of God, His compassion and healing in working and caring together for our community in Sevenoaks.
We believe we will grow in God’s love.
AN INVITATION
If you are interested in taking a journey in search of a fuller understanding of God, His purpose for your life, and His example in Jesus Christ, then we would be delighted for you to come on board and walk this path of exploration with us.
OUR CHURCH NAME
To clarify something which you may have noticed we are now using the name we were formally known under in the community from 1972 (when the United Reformed Church was formed) until about 6 years ago when the two United Reformed Churches in Sevenoaks tried using the common name of Sevenoaks United Reformed Church. Our two churches serve very distinctly different communities (Christ Church the area around Kippington) and ourselves in the St Johns area. To make this more obvious we have, since late September, reverted to our original status – hence St Johns Hill URC, Sevenoaks – so that we can concentrate our efforts on this, our community.
