Sevenoaks District Council provides a range of important local services to some 114,000 people across a wide area of west Kent.
Mission
Sevenoaks District Council’s vision sets out the Council’s focus over the coming years.
The vision is: “To lead the whole community in meeting its needs; and to work in partnership to improve the quality of life within the District.”
It has four elements and was adopted in September 2005.
Balanced communities
Working with our partners to improve the range of housing, health and education facilities, improving the environment and transport options. See the housing pages on this website.
Delivering the Sevenoaks District Community Plan
The Community Plan sets out a vision not just of the Council but the entire District to improve the life of our residents over a 10 year period. It was drawn up following widespread consultation with local people, voluntary organisations and other public sector organisations. So far the results from the plan are very encouraging. A year after its launch in April 2005, 76% of the 131 actions were on target with only 5% of the targets unlikely to be achieved. For more information see the Community Plan page on this website.
Developing the District’s Local Development Framework
This important planning document sets out in details how the District will be developed in the coming years. It will address future housing, employment and transports needs whilst protecting the green belt. The Framework is under development and will gradually replace the current Local Plan. See the Local Development Framework pages on this website for more information.
Achieving a balanced and sustainable budget
Greater links will be forged between the Council’s budgets to its key priorities together with new more effective ways of setting and monitoring the annual budget. We aim to offer good value for money for our local tax payers.
