Ash-cum-Ridley Parish Council is the third tier of local government and is the closest to the people it serves. It has many statutory powers, including provision of recreation areas and burial grounds, and is consulted by and can comment to Sevenoaks District Council and Kent County Council. It can take up matters on behalf of local individuals with our Member of Parliament, government departments and other bodies.
The parish, encompassing New Ash Green and the villages of Ash, Ridley and Hodsoll Street is represented by 16 elected councillors. Although for convenience different committees take responsibility for various tasks such as planning and finance, all decisions are made at the monthly Council meeting. The Council employs a full time Clerk in it’s office at Ash Green Sports Centre.
The Council welcomes the public to its monthly meeting during which a time can be set aside for questions. The meetings are rotated around the various village halls, so please contact the Parish Clerk for details of the next meeting.
Clerk: Mrs Alison de Jager
